Beach and Spaghetti

So on Tuesday, we loaded up Matthew and the dogs and headed down to Ocean Beach to go to the...beach. Specifically the dog beach I had never been to. I feel really stupid, because the only dog beach I knew of was really inacessable, you had to take a back residential road, climb down a dune on a delipated path, climb over broken concrete (looks like it's from a bridge) for about a mile, then pick one of about 3 alcoves to hang out with your dog. Hm. So I used my brain this time, having read all about this "wonderful easily accessible dog beach in San Diego", and got directions. Turns out if I take the OTHER fork in the road off the highway, there are immediately clear signs pointing to the dog beach, with dog washes and dog-friendly outdoor cafes along the way. Hm. Oh, and once you're there, you're just a stone's throw away from the place it takes a very long time to get to the other way. Oh, and going the other way, you're right next to the surf and sometimes you get splashed as you're precariously balancing along the broken path. Sometimes the tide will rise and you'll get splashed. And Ally will have multiple heart attacks picking up her dogs and running screaming from the really scary rising tide. I don't know what it is about the ocean, but it really scares me up close. On an open beach I can handle it now, but not in those sort of situations.
Anyway, after I got over feeling very...special, we had a great time.

Here's the beach. It was such a beautiful day!

And here's Matthew! What booger?

Here's all of us. Except me. And yes, that IS a lifejacket on Mai. Deal with it. :-P She likes jumping into the waves and swimming into the ocean as much as any Labrador. Except she tires a lot quicker (even if she refuses to admit it!) I don't want her drowning if she gets caught in the undertow. Ebony doesn't have one because she hates the water. She hates stepping in wet grass. She just absolutely hates getting wet. Plus if she got carried out to sea I think she would be pretty bouyant...
Anyway, Matthew is really cute. Here are some random cute pictures.

Mmm. I heard Mommy liked to chew remotes. Think I'll give it a try...

OH MY GOD! I LOVE IT!!!

This picture is special because you can see all his teeth coming in!!!!!!!!!!! As you can see, the bottom right is actually out, the top left is out (I know it doesn't look like it but trust me, it hurts!), the bottom left is coming out and the top right is about to make it's appearance. I don't know any other baby who got their teeth in such a funky order!!!

Yay! He finally learned that it's really fun if you SIT UP and play with toys! For a while he would refuse to sit-he only wanted to crawl and pull himself to standing. Now he realizes things like his blocks and stacking cups become a lot more fun when you're sitting up playing with them.

Yay! Daddy gives Matt a bath!

Aren't they cute?

And here's Matt, eating tonight's dinner. I made that cornbread from scratch myself you know. Very easy. The Jiffy stuff has beef fat in it-yuck! Not only am I a vegetarian, I am also a big believer in simple ingredients. Seriously--cornbread does not need an entire box-side full of ingredients.

And sorry, this is just classic.

Hi, I'M SO CUTE!!!

Here's Sean and Matt after tonight's necessary after-spaghetti bath.

And Mostly Matt.

Oh, I am just so handsome. So, so handsome.

You are so handsome, I must kiss you. MUAH!
(See I have been telling everyone at work how vain my son is, how he kisses himself in the mirror.) There are saliva marks on every Matthew-height reflective surface in my apartment.
And last but not least, the very cute video of Matthew eating, or attempting to eat, his spaghetti.

Goodnight! Hope you enjoyed this extra-long and detailed post!!!

Another Day, Another Mess To Clean

Ahaha as soon as I typed that I got an offer from windows asking if I wanted it to clean up my old files....I KNEW they were spies!!!!!!!
Anyway, spent yesterday cleaning as usual, then cleaning as unusual since I found out Sean's old friend from high school was coming over. It was pretty gross in the apartment so I cleaned that too. Spent today also cleaning stupid messes. And of course, entertaining our little head of the household. He likes to eat Cheerios now, his preferred method is to grab a fistful, bring it to his mouth, flatten his hand against his mouth shoving about 75% of it in there, and repeat until his mouth is full to the brim with Cheerios. I don't know how he doesn't choke, but I am happy he doesn't (duh).

I swear, all he does is eat!!!

After watching him beg for my pasta for a while I had enough and let him have some.

When that wasn't enough I decided it was time for yet ANOTHER snack

And this was the result...
Needless to say, it was bathtime after that. Not to mention the messes he was in earlier. For example:

BITER BISCUTS!!! Yeah right.

More like weird biscuits made of uncleanable material that sticks to every surface and is abrasive and makes baby scream when you try to wash it off.

AhHHH! I kill you with DEATH EYE!!!

Guess the soda didn't really do it for Sean...

Here's Matt playing with his favorite toys.

Hey! MY spoon!
Anyway, just wanted to post quickly. Now Windows is being stupid and giving me some weird error message about files not being original and now I need to insert the XP cd. Hah! I know their game. It's not about the files at all! They just want to see if I am legit. Then they will connect to the internet and beam all my information to their world domination headquarters. Yep.
So I will blog at ya later. Have a funtabulous day!

I Think Matt Would Look Really Good With Just Two Teeth

He doesn't need to get anymore. They can just stop now. His teeth are the reason I haven't been online for almost a week! Darn teeth!!! I will try to get some pictures. He has his bottom right tooth, and his bottom left tooth is halfway out. One of his top teeth is coming out too and the other top one is swollen and going to emerge any day. 4 teeth at once...a little too many for my taste. None are complete...all at different stages. And that infant Tylenol is expensive! It's times like this I wish I had the dishonesty to steal. Unfortunately I have morals. Darn morals! Costing me!
Anyway, I have to go and put my wreaked house back together before Matt wakes up. I will post later!!!

Whee! We All Love the Wii!!!

So, I had been thinking about getting a Wii for a while, and Sean was dying for one. So, I was very sneaky last night and got one along with a few games and surprised Sean with it. He loves it, and I do too! Very awesome.

Here it is, in all it's glowy.

And here is Sean, hypnotized.

Yay! I have broken the spell!

In other news, Matt had his 6 months check up today. Yes, I know he is almost 8 months. Sigh...anyway, for his age he is in the 95th percentile for height and the 5th percentile for weight. He is 28 1/2 inches and 18 pounds. Ahhh!!! The doctor is not worried, she said it is because he is exercising a lot. Which he is. He is extremely physically advanced for his age (he is always pulling to standing now, crawls like a pro, says mama (which is important to speech development whether he means it or not), looks for dropped objects, etc. His head circumference is still on the small side but again, the pediatrician says they only worry about that if they have developmental delay, which he does not. He also got 4 shots! He screamed bloody murder but stopped as soon as I held him. Also, his top two teeth will come in any day. The doctor pointed that out. I thought he was, but there's no way in heck I can see that without a really big fight. So it was nice to have the matter-of-fact reassurance from a doctor.
Matthew also has a favorite book now. It's the ABC book by Dr. Suess. It makes him giggle, captivates him totally, and calms him down when nothing else will. It used to be my book when I was a kid, now it's his :-)

See the band-aid? Not for long. Matt promptly ripped it off and stuffed it into his mouth. Yum...

Rawrr tiger!
There's not really much else to report. Going to try to plan a trip to New Hampshire in October when my mom is going but I don't know if I am going to be able to miss all those days of work (only have 2 vacation days). We'll see. It'll be worth it seeing family, though. Going to look at ticket prices, then go Wii!!! In the toilet, of course. Goodnight! Be sure to check out Sean's blog if you haven't already!

Not MORE Work!!?

Yick. Been so busy with working and things going on I haven't had a chance to post! Finally have a day off, but it's split because I also need friday off so I can go to Matt's doctor appointment. But, a day is a day!
This post will be pretty brief, I'm really tired! Besides work, haven't been doing much. My schedule this week was awful, a lot of closing shifts with opening shifts the next day. I don't mind closing or opening, but not right next to each other! So I haven't been seeing Matt that much. Sean brought him to work yesterday though, and it cheered me up. Spent one day after work going to Kristen's wedding reception (a friend from work) with Annie (another friend from work who is looking like she may become an outside-of-work friend too). Have been really bummed about working all the time, and it seems like it'll never end! I would give anything to be able to work part-time, but I can't afford it. I think it's really just my schedule that has been getting me down. The next two weeks are much better, I work all mid-shifts or opening except for one day, which is going to be wonderful! Mid-shifts are awesome. I get to wake up early, eat and get ready, then Matt wakes up and I have JUST enough time to change, feed and play with him until I am off to work. Then I come home and have plenty of play time before it is his bedtime. Awesome.
Anyway, I will post a really cool blog tomorrow. There will be pictures, maybe a video. Pictures have been delayed because Sean has been using all of them on HIS new blog, http://www.dadsbattleground.blogspot.com/ Please visit it--it's really funny and really shows off the wonderful funny person that Sean is that people usually don't get to see. And it's entertaining.
But he is also my rival. And I will beat him. Bwahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Picture-Perfect Playtime

Okay, this will be a mainly picture post because now my camera is charged! Yay!

So I turn my back for a second and Matt decides he wants to go swimming. You can't see it well, but the floor is covered in water and Matt is soaking wet.

It wasn't enough that he got a bath this morning due to some unorthodox finger "painting" he was doing when I went in his room this morning. (let's not get into that--lets just say it was a very gross baby thing). Nope, he wanted another one. He was happy. Until I had to undress him. Ever try to take soaking wet jeans off an uncoorporative baby? Not fun.

This is his snack. Was his snack.

Time for the annual crib-tasting.

Heyy, pretty good!

Sleepy Nino.

Uncle Joey plays with Matt

Matt laughs

Mai whines. That's her and Matt's favorite toy.

Mmmmmmmm PICKLE!!!!!

I am really, really, freakishly cute.

Dead Nino.

Matt selecting a toy from his toybox.

Woo hoo! He found one!!!

Yay! He loves toybox time.

Oo, a block! My favorite block!

Hey, is that a camera?

It IS!!! MINE!!!

Mine mine mine mine!!!!

N..not mine?
And lastly, here is a video of him crawling around.

So I hope that makes up for the recent lack of pictures!!! Goodnight! And happy birthday Brenda!
